Kristin Chenoweth Gets Evil
Looks like Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth will be reprising her deliciously evil role of Maleficent in a sequel to Disney Channel’s big summer hit Descendants. Deadline reports that the original film’s screenwriters, Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon, have been enlisted to pen a new script for the project, working title Descendants 2. Following the teen sons and daughters of Disney villains, the live-action, music-filled movie also stars Dove Cameron as Mal and Broadway alum Kathy Najimy as the Evil Queen.
Will James Corden Host the Tonys?
Indulge us with a little speculation in Odds & Ends today. Tony winner James Corden, who is currently killing it on CBS’ The Late Late Show, has been tapped to host the 19th Annual Hollywood Film Awards on November 1. Why do we care? Because the Tony Awards are broadcast on CBS, Corden has proven his emceeing skills on the other side of the Pond with the Brits (the U.K.’s version of the Grammys) and will now do so in front of L.A. bigwigs…AND HE’S A TONY WINNER. Which means we think that he’s the perfect choice to take charge of the Tony Awards AKA Broadway’s biggest night on June 5, 2016. Just pointing out the obvious...
The Last Five Years Collectors Edition
See we’re smiling! A special limited edition vinyl version of the soundtrack to The Last Five Years movie will drop on Sh-K-Boom Records on November 20. Starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, the film adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s musical was released earlier this year.
Carrie Coon & Lee Pace Team Up for Romance
Tony nominee Carrie Coon (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf) and Broadway alum Lee Pace (The Normal Heart) will join forces for The Keeping Hours. According to Variety, the supernatural romance will follow a couple who try to reconcile ten years after their son is killed in a car crash and their lives fell apart. Directed by Karen Moncrieff and penned by Rebecca Sonnenshine, shooting is scheduled to start in December.
Marlo Thomas Opens Up About Clever Little Lies
Marlo Thomas is currently appearing in Clever Little Lies off-Broadway and she recently stopped by The Today Show to chat about starring in the Joe DiPietro play. "I get there two and half hours early," Thomas revealed, so "that the theater feels like a home and not a scary place."
